What is DVD duplication?

DVD duplication involves burning standard or special shape DVD-R or DVD+R with a laser in standard DVD writer drive. The ‘R’ after the format type stands for ‘Recordable’ (As opposed to replicated discs which are referred to as DVD ROM where the ‘ROM’ stands for ‘Read-Only Memory’ as these discs cannot be burnt at all and are pressed at the time of manufacture).

For DVD duplication at Wizbit we use robotic DVD duplicators that can process large numbers of DVDs of all sizes quickly and efficiently. This type of production is ideal for smaller print runs of less than 2000 discs, or where the discs are required very quickly. These discs are typically applied with photo-glossy labels that have been printed in a very high quality laser printer. The laser print process is smudge-proof and allows full colour printing that is suitable for photographs or complex colour gradients.

Another advantage of duplicated DVDs is that we can supply them printed, but blank, for you to burn your own content onto in a standard DVD-RW drive. This is often useful if you are sending out individual client files, or if the information that you need to put on the discs is constantly changing.

The other main type of CD and DVD production is referred to as CD replication and DVD replication and involves pressing the discs from a glass master. This process is used for higher volume discs, resulting in much lower unit costs for larger orders of 1000 discs or more.
