With the rapid growth in MiniDisc sales since 2018, particularly amongst the Vaporwave scene, it has now come about for MiniDiscs to get their own unique release day in a similar way to cassettes and records. International MiniDisc Day is unique time for any type of label or artist to release a new piece of work where additional social media and news exposure is gained from being listed as one of the official MiniDisc Day release artists.
