Vinyl DVDs in record-style card sleeves

For small run orders of 50 items or more

These 12cm vinyl-effect DVDs are a variation on the vinyl CDs for customers who need to put large amounts of information on the discs or DVD video files. The capacity is the same as a standard 12cm DVD at 4.7GB and they play and work just like standard DVDs in all players. The duplicated vinyl DVDs have a solid black ridged spiral running around the outside of the disc on the printed side, looking exactly like grooves in a record. The data side of the disc is the standard DVD-R purple colour. These 12cm circular vinyl discs have a 65mm area in the centre of the disc where a full colour printed sticker is applied.

They come in record-style card wallets in 100% recycled natural white card with a matt finish,  smooth white card, a thick solid matt red (roughly Pantone 1797), a thick solid matt black or a thick textured brown Manila / kraft colour, see further below for a picture and further information. We have had the record-style DVD wallets specially made for us to look like an original vinyl record sleeve with a hole on one side for the artwork to show through. With the plain card wallets, these discs are a very affordable solution that offers the full DVD storage capacity of 4.7GB and look slightly different to typical DVD packaging.

Alternatively we can also provide the record-style wallets with your own artwork printed on the front and reverse for a completely custom look. The pricing for the vinyl DVD duplication in either the plain card wallets or custom printed wallets is shown in the tables below.

Packaging options

The vinyl style card wallets for our record-style CDs can either be full colour printed or are available (shown left to right) in 100% recycled natural white card with a matt finish,  smooth white card, a thick solid matt red (roughly Pantone 1797), a thick solid matt black or a thick textured brown Manila / kraft colour. Card weights are all around 300gsm, apart from the smooth white which is around 250gsm. Please note that the red, black and Manila cards are expensive premium card stocks and cost an extra £0.10+VAT per wallet if you wish to go for them.

If you would like your DVDs in a clear wrap for a glossy protective finish that is ideal for retail environments or presentation purposes then please add £0.08+VAT per disc for either a shrink wrap or  a cellophane resealable wrap.

Add a thumbcut…

If you would like a thumbcut added to the wallets for easier disc removal then we can easily do so. Please note that it does eat into the artwork space a little, but we have had a lot of requests for them, so thought we would add them as an option. Please add £0.05+VAT per unit that you would like the thumbcuts added to and please mention when ordering if you would like thumbcuts added to the DVD wallets, otherwise they are provided with normal straight edges by default.

Vinyl DVD artwork template downloads (also suitable for editing in Photoshop)

The printed area on these vinyl-effect discs is 65mm in diameter with a 16.7mm diameter central hole. The artwork template that you download is only for the central printed area, the raised ridges and grooves with the vinyl effect will be automatically added outside of this area, so you don’t need to allow for them in your artwork:

The finished wallets measure 124 x 124mm and the general artwork sizes can be seen below. If having printed wallets then you can either go for the record-style wallets with a hole in the front to show the vinyl disc artwork through, or you can have the standard wallets with solid front and back panels. DVD presentation frames

The frames are fully finished, ready to hang and include additional copies of your release and can even be provided with a full colour printed metal plaque with your artwork on to celebrate the DVD release or as a memento for the band members. The frames can include both a copy of the disc and also the packaging and are available in black or white borders with black or white backgrounds.

Type of printing on the DVDs

Our disc printing is an on-body full colour UV-LED print for quantities of less than 300 or a silk screen / litho print for larger quantities. Our vinyl-style DVDs come with full colour printed labels in the middle as this is more authentic, however we can do on-body printing of the vinyl discs by special request. With our UV-LED printing we can also print partial white bases and spot gloss effects (spot gloss would add £0.50+VAT per disc). We can also leave the white base out altogether if you would like to get a reflective print or colours. The picture illustrates the same artwork printed onto both a reflective silver base and white base on our UV LED printer (either option is the same price).

Add some full colour printed guitar picks

When placing an order with us, why not add some custom printed guitar picks with your band logo on? The picks are available in different thicknesses for acoustic/electric and bass guitars and also lots of different base colours. We can then print full colour on-body artwork with partial white base layers and spot gloss layers if required. Ideal for not only playing with, but also for merch stands, added value online CD/cassette/vinyl sales or freebies for fans.

Do you need a barcode?

If you will be selling your DVDs through a retail store then you will probably need to register a unique barcode for your release and apply it to the rear outer artwork of your product to make it possible for them to sell via their product barcode scanner.

In Europe we use the EAN 13 barcode system and in North America the UPC system is used. We can register an EAN 13 barcode for you and embed the barcode graphic within your disc packaging artwork for just £12+VAT. The only information that we will require from you will be the name of the band/artist and the title of the release, then just leave a suitable space in your artwork and we will register the barcode and add it to your artwork for you, all for just £12+VAT.

1. By email If the artwork (and contents if we are burning the discs for you) are less than 10MB then you can email them to us here.

2. By uploading online Any size of files can be uploaded to us free of charge online via our WeTransfer upload - please remember to provide your order details (band name, type of cassettes required, packaging type, total order quantity and delivery address) in the information field when uploading.
